Johannesburg - Events celebrating professional excellence can be very serious.
However, the announcement of the Rising Star Awards finalists was enjoyed by all in attendance this past week in Sandton at the Hilton hotel because there was no pressure on any of the nominees.
The awards shine a light on talented individuals in various business sectors in categories ranging from excellence in ICT to energy and environment.
This will be the awards’ sixth edition and 60 hopefuls will be looking to win.
The guests were all dressed to the nines, as expected at any gala event.
The food wasn’t as decadent as you would expect from an evening sponsored by a major bank and a high-class hotel, but the general vibe of the evening made up for that; not to mention the lovely wines supplied by Mulderbosch Vineyards.
The initiative is aimed at showcasing young talent with all nominees under the age of 40.
Keynote speakers included Bonang Mohale, CEO of Business Leadership SA, and Tourism Minister Tokozile Xasa.
They both only had encouraging things to say about the event’s objectives and the enterprising nominees.
